Before Christmas

I was told that Indian students don’t have the tradition to have Christmas, so some of my Indian friends will come to lab to work during Christmas. But as far as I know, Americans in other labs have gone for their holidays. Considering I won’t have Spring Festival here, I might as well treat this Christmas as my upcoming Chinese New Year holidays. Obviously, it is going to be my first time that I won’t be able to go home for Chinese New Year.

My friend arrived here yesterday and while we were reminiscing about the past around the table last night, I called my friends in China. It seems lots of things have changed and it’s surely true that China does change a lot. Three of my best friends have girlfriends now and while they are waiting for their PhD graduation, their new life is just around the corner. One of the smart classmates found a job in a company who pays him loads of money. It’s good for them and I am happy to see that. The life seemingly so familiar to me is gradually fading away. It will come to the point where I could realize it’s so far away, I guess.

I hope Xin will continue to pursue his postdoctoral degree in Japan and be happy with his girlfriend; I hope Jerry and Andy can find their special ones sooner; Terry and his girlfriend be happy; and I hope Water and Feibar are happy with their girlfriends and find awesome jobs…Many best wishes to y’ll…New year, new friends and new life.
